From Novelty to Habit

|

I’ve been reconsidering the way I’m approaching work. I’ve been spending my days studying and job-hunting 9-5 at the local coffeehouse to build a portfolio and become an Apple developer (more on that in another post). Oftentimes, that time drifts into after-hours studying, where I keep hacking away, fueled by craft beer and a huge chip on my shoulder.

While I have gotten loads of stuff done, I've been missing out on quality time with my family, and my relationships have suffered. A few days ago I had a wake up call that has led me to moderate my lifestyle. I've begun to take better care of myself and have a cut-off time to stop studying and pay attention to the people who matter.

I've actually gotten more work done since changing my behavior. Now all that remains is turning the novelty of moderation into a habit.
