Politically Correct: The Death of the Statesmen

|

In our government basic decorum, cooperation, and productivity is mired in a downward spiral. Two parties, increasingly alienating the other side, have made brinksmanship the new normal. In Illinois, we have yet to pass a budget, and there have been enormous consequences.

Given, I feel that one side is reasonable, and the other side pig-headed, but that's how everyone is feeling to some extent. Animosity has never been higher. Honestly, I'm not sure what can be done.

There are politicians who call themselves "Constitutionalists," but I don't think they really are what they mean. Being a Constitutionalist is less about to-the-letter interpretation, but more about being able to be pragmatic, make compromises, and respect each other. "Political correctness" is the right thing to pursue, because true political correctness gets things done.
