Rospach, a former Palm employee, has first-hand knowledge about app stores. I agree that the app store probably isn't going to change. It is up to developers to do their homework and figure out ways to make their businesses solvent.

We can afford to listen to this advice regarding pricing models:

The reality is you may not like the “buy a bag of diamonds” model, but it works, and you should take advantage of it in your app design if it makes sense. I see too many developers fighting the app store because it doesn’t support the economic models they want, rather than trying to adapt and use the forms that it does.
